Substitutions:

  • Not a fan of chicken breasts? Swap them for boneless, skinless chicken thighs. They are a bit juicier and forgive overcooking much better!
  • Out of honey? Maple syrup works beautifully in a pinch.
  • Need it gluten-free? Use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and ensure your vinegar is gluten-free.

Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the icebox (fridge) for 3 to 4 days. To reheat, pop them in the microwave for 60 seconds, or better yet, use the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes to bring back that lovely crispiness.

Make-Ahead: You can whisk the sauce together up to 3 days in advance and keep it in the fridge. You can also pre-cut and coat the chicken in the cornstarch a few hours ahead, keeping it covered in the fridge until you're ready to fry.
